My first-year project at Kolding School of Design. At the beginning of the project, I read Theis Ørntoft’s essay ‘The Days in Paradise Are Over’, where I encountered the concept of entropy for the first time: “Everything in the universe decays. Slowly and inevitably; it happens through the laws of nature. If one does not work every day to maintain a given order, it will eventually break down. This applies to houses, gardens, and cars. It also applies to human relationships; the logic seems to exist in everything, and natural science has a name for it — entropy.” I became deeply fascinated by this phenomenon, and very full circle, the project ultimately became a redesign of that very essay, with entropy as its central focus.
